Summer Reading List+Kindle Paperwhite Giveaway
First, I’ve been a terrible giveaway participant. Just terrible. The giveaway I’m part of started on the 4th of this month. What’s today? The 12th. As much as I want to place the blame somewhere else… I really can’t. Without any more hesitation, here is my formal introduction to this amazing giveaway I’m currently part of.
An awesome Kindle Paperwhite giveaway with these other bloggers of note:
- Brittney & Staff from Urban Cashmere
- Kristin from My Life as a Teacup
- Rhea from Rhea Et Cetera
- Sam from Sam Bell Creative
- Whitney from Whitney a la Mode
- Karen from Fearlessly Authentic
- Inge from This Ever Evolving Life
- Marissa from The Modern Austen
I really wanted to participate in this summer book challenge but I ran out of time. Though summer is almost over, I wanted to share the titles that I’ve had on my nightstand almost all summer trying to finish for the first, second, or seventh time:
The Great Gatsby:: This one needs little to no explanation. You can download it for $1.99 on your Kindle too. It’s my favorite book since it was actually on my summer reading list in the 6th grade. It’s one that I’ve read every year since then too. Fitzgerald is my absolute favorite author of all time.
Wheat Belly:: I’ve been dying to get through this one. As much as I love my carbs, I know they are terrible for someone with PCOS. I’ve been eating up as much information as I can about gluten intolerances and what our wheat really is in our food today. I can’t wait to finish this one up. It’s available for $9.08 via Kindle.
Walt Disney, An American Original:: Biographies aren’t necessarily my thing, but I do love me some Disney. Especially Walt. His life is one amazing story after another and I’ve read multiple Walt biographies and this one is my favorite. It’s not available via Kindle, but I’ve let the publisher know I’d love to have an e-reader edition!
Is Everyone Hanging Out With Me? (And Other Concerns):: Mindy Kaling is my favorite y’all. This was a perfect beach read and I tore right though it and LOVED IT ALL! If you have a short vacay between now and when school starts or summer is over, this is the book you need to download on your Kindle. It’s available for $4.99 for Kindle download.
Lauren Conrad Style:: Don’t judge. I love her taste. And I don’t have television so instead of trashy TV, I have bubblegum reading. As much as I shop, you might not think I would ever glean anything out of a book on how to build a closet, but somehow I always find that gem or tip I’ve never seen before and add it to my storehouse of useful (or useless depending on where you sit) tips. Her book was no different. And I loved all the pictures. Sometimes the brain needs a little break. This one isn’t available for kindle, I got it through iBooks. But you can get her other book “Beauty” via kindle download for $11.78.
There you have it. Five books I’ve been chowing through this summer and hope to finish sometime this year. Incase you’re hesitant to purchase Kindle books, there are many available for free. Local libraries lend books and over at Passion for Savings, there is a regularly updated list of free books to download on your kindle. If you won the giveaway that’s like getting an entire free library! I love the concept. I don’t know about you. Make sure you take a minute to enter to win the Paperwhite.

Glad you got a good laugh out of it. I've been posting it at the bottom of my posts, but didn't give the giveaway a post. Lame on my part.
Love your list! I need to make time to read more!!

I teach Gatsby every year! š
Yay! I entered!
The Great Gatsby… <3 It made me want to seriously pursue writing as a career. And LC will never need an apology.
This is such a great giveaway! I've always loved buying real, hold-in-your-hand, paperback books… but I've started to realize I don't read them as much because that makes it harder for them to be carried around! I love both Mindy Kaling AND LC so there's definitely no need to apologize there. I also had a bout with PCOS (turns out my Dr. misdiagnosed me and it was something else), but I can still tell my body doesn't require nearly the amount of carbs that I ACTUALLY eat. Wheatbelly sounds like a great read!

She's pretty insightful on some of the tips. Other tips aren't for me, but I enjoyed it very much. Great beach read too.
Yay! Thanks! Miss your posts tons!
I love love love Gatsby. And this is why we're friends. š
Haha! Thank you! I was and always will be Team LC.
Thanks! Me too! I'm a sucker for the smell of books and the feel of paper in my hands, but I have been reading more since I put books on a kindle. I also have the kindle app on my iPad so they're pretty much always with me. What a pain being misdiagnosed. It just took forever for someone to diagnose me. In the meantime I gained 30 lbs within a years time. It was terrible. Wheat Belly has been very interesting to read since being diagnosed.
PS TEAM LC!
