Style Day: Striped Skirt Remix

A horizontal striped skirt was not something that I was immediately drawn to. Being a textbook pear shape, I just didn’t think it was for me. Don’t get me wrong, I thought every single one I saw was chic and played up the pattern well, but couldn’t get past the unspoken rule of “no horizontal stripes across the widest part of your body.” It wasn’t until Katie at Style on Target purchased her striped skirt that I decided that it might could work for me. Did it ever! Inspired by Katie, I remixed this skirt three ways in March.

Stripe Pencil Skirt from Gap

(Keep in mind we had unseasonably cold weather here in Georgia in March. Typically I would’ve packed up my boots in February.)

cardigan: Target chambray: J.Crew Factory necklace: J.Crew boots: Aldo
So for my first outfit I found this Pinspiration and it had three of my favorite things with a striped skirt: chambray, cardigan, and riding boots. I added a statement necklace, in line with my accessorizing goals. I plan on repeating this one with warmer temperatures by substituting the boots for booties, not adding a cardigan, and rolling up my chambray sleeves.

On to outfit two. What’s black and white and pink all over? Me in outfit two. I admit, I may have gone a little overboard on the pink, but I liked how the sweater broke up the pattern so that wasn’t all you saw when you glanced my way. I had originally wanted to wear this sans leggings and crew neck sweater, but Georgia weather had other plans, but that’s how I would transition it to warmer weather. This and outfit one are appropriate for my office. Also, I apologize for the creepy smile in this one. My mouth was still on the mend from getting my wisdom teeth out.

Cargo Jacket: Gap (old, similar) Tee: J.Crew (similar) Leggings: Old Navy Flats: me too
The third time I wore this skirt in March was with a cargo jacket, graphic tee, and leggings. Sorry I know, again with the leggings, but the weather just wasn’t cooperating. The lack of bold colors is what made me like this outfit. It definitely created a look, in my opinion! I plan on switching flats for sandals in warmer weather and repeating this with the multitudes of tees in my closet.
There it is! My striped skirt three ways. Do you have a striped skirt you like? Found one you want to try?
