Striped Pencil Skirt :: Into Fall
The title of this post could also be, “NOT in a capsule finally!” One thing I should have included is this amazing skirt. It was a total fail on my part. I really missed this skirt! And this shirt. And all my shoes. And… well more on that later. Most bloggers are talking about transitioning summer pieces to fall. Georgia isn’t experiencing fall weather yet, as much as I would like to. When it comes, I know this skirt will transition like a dream, since it went from winter to spring so well!

I just love this skirt more and more every time I wear it. In my opinion, this is a great transition look because the colors are neutrals. Neutrals are one of the best ways to make an outfit seasonless and keep a piece going. I’ve also seen other bloggers wear summer silhouettes in fall colors. This is easily done with this striped skirt. If I wanted this particular to look be more fall-ish, I would add a pendant necklace, swap the blazer for a utility vest, and go for cognac shoes. You could also do something like this:

The yellow, cognac, and green are all pantone colors for fall. I’m always excited to see such easy transitioning colors like the yellow, purple, and red in the fall color report. Are you ready to transition to fall? What pieces are you carrying over?
What a cute outfit! I love how you gave an example of how to wear the skirt for fall. đ
You look so cute! I'm usually afraid to wear stripes on the bottom, but you're inspiring me to try it! đ
I really love the necklace you have in the roundup. I love military inspired items like that.
Love this look on you! (You look like such a skinny mini in these photos! Rock it, sister!)
Cute look!! I love the two different stripes together! Perfect office outfit!

I like the idea of using a capsule wardrobe to help you recognize the value in the pieces you have and be more creative with your closet, but if you were MISSING that skirt and really wanted to wear it, why not just add it to your capsule? The fashion police would give you a citation for adding something?
Love those silver flats!
Chic on the Cheap
Thanks Lydia! Would you believe they're among the most comfortable I own?
Haha! I don't think so, but I really wanted to continue on with the original pieces I picked just to see if I could do it with less. I did, but got super bored. I've been even more in love with what I already have now though.
Thanks Sara! I was hoping it would look as good in person as it did in my head.
Ooooh! Maybe I should never take it off!
The necklace is on my wishlist! I'm waiting for a promo to apply to it at Madewell.
I was afraid for a very long time to do so, but two of my favorite items now include horizontal stripes on the bottom.
Thanks Jana. It's easily a favorite of mine.
Ooh, you're right! That skirt is amazing! I like how it looks with your chambray shirt đ I don't really have pieces in my closet that are season-specific (aside from the obvious things like sweaters and boots). I definitely think that having a 75+% neutrals closet helps me move from season to season, though! I really like the outfit you posted with the yellow tank and olive vest – super cute!!
