My Favs on Thursdays: Essential Beach Bound Favorites

Today I’m so desperately hoping that I get to go on my family-in-law’s (is that a thing?) beach vacation, just for a little bit. Most of the family is already there, enjoying the beach– sun, sand, ocean. Ugh. I’m here, in the office. Fluorescent lights, computer screen, a/c cranked. Oh the joys of being a grown up and having responsibilities. I’m hoping to leave with my husband and middle brother-in-law after work on Friday and arrive for at least two amazing days bobbing up and down in the Atlantic. I have to be completely packed tonight for tomorrow morning so we can leave from work if its going to happen. I went ahead and made a packing list and decided to share my favorite beach needs with y’all, since that’s pretty much what every other blogger is doing since Memorial Day. I’ve gotten great ideas from those collages, so I wanted to share mine too! Here’s hoping for a beach weekend!
1 :: 2 :: 3 :: 4 :: 5 :: 6 :: 7 :: 8 :: 9 :: 10 :: 11 :: 12 :: 13 :: 14 :: 15 :: 16 :: 17 :: 18

One:: These prima cotton tanks are amazing. I plan on living in them all summer long, that includes a weekend on the beach too.

Two-Four:: Jean shorts, chino shorts, and cotton patterned shorts. Shorts for every beach occasion that may come up.
Five:: Havaianas slim. My flip flops of choice. At $10 a pair via amazon and knowing that I’ve had a pair for three years now, they’re more than worth the investment over the $3 pairs.
Six:: A fancy sandal for going to nicer restaurants, though there’s not too many places on the beach where shorts and flip flops aren’t considered dressed up.
Seven-Eight:: After having had several very bad burns in my life and sun poisoning being a real possibility, these are definitely needs. Naked Bee sunscreen is my favorite! It smells like smarties and is 70% organic. The Hawaiian tropic after sun is not just good for tanning but also after burning according to my sister. I’m definitely packing some just in case. Technically these are items 1 and 2 on my packing list. 
Nine:: My new Market tote from Herschel Supply Co. is going to be pure beach perfection packed with a towel, sunscreen and several “16s.”
Ten-Fourteen:: Never have I ever… been disappointed in a J.Crew swim suit. Each and every piece has been a great investment, especially when they’re picked up at a sale-on-sale during winter and saved to bust out during the summer. It’s like getting something new in the mail all over again. Best. Feeling. Ever. J.Crew d-cup swim pieces are my weapon of choice to hold the gals in place while swimming around.
Fifteen:: The maxi dress is for when you have to bust out the nice glitter sandals for that restaurant. It’s also nice to have one as a beach cover up. Maxi dresses do great double duty for a beach weekend.
Sixteen-Eighteen:: All of these items will be with me on the beach. The ear buds that came with my 5s are actually great, so I have two pairs. I’m more of a magazine on the beach reader than a book on the beach. Pictures are about as deep as I want to go in between dips. 17 comes in handy when I’ve checked Instagram a million times and listened to the Frozen soundtrack on repeat for three hours. Its a universal battery charger of amazing proportions. Highly recommended.

    May I ask you what swimsuit size / bra size you wear? I've been trying to find a nice one piece big enough for my bust, but so few are. I have not yet tried J.Crew because its online only (I know free shipping and returns, but it would still be frustrating to have to order several sizes only to have none work out.) Anyway, I'm a 34DD, in your experience, any chance the J.Crew suit would work?

  2. PLEASE ask! Sounds like we're in the same boat. I wear a 38DD and the J.Crew d-cups are the only swim I've found that REALLY fits. I even have a 38DD from VS and it doesn't fit me as well as the J.Crew d-cup options. I wouldn't even bother with J.Crew regular swim. Those tops are not made for gals with chests. I have #13 in a bright purple polka dot version from last year and it is hands down my all time favorite swim suit.

  4. Yes! Sunglasses! Thanks Katie! I knew I forgot to include something. I never think of packing those because they're always in the car with me anyway.
