Basic Black Sandals Remix

This Mix it Monday is pulling double duty today. It’s also a farewell to my black sandals. Poor black sandals. It doesn’t matter how much or how little I spend on them, they never make it to the next summer. (Not counting my Birkens though, but unfortunately, they’re less flexible.) This is also the last of my saved up outfits. What a coincidence.

Basic black sandals are one of those cogs in a wardrobe that you cannot function without. Flat sandals work with shorts, pants, skirts, dresses– you name it, a pair of black sandals can most likely go with it. Even with as much navy as I wear, black sandals still work surprisingly. I could only find two other photographed outfits with these shoes on, but just know that these were worn pretty much every other day this summer, if not even more than that. They were my first sole society purchase and I was impressed by the quality. Having to walk in the parking lot though puddles did them in, but that’s after they had already shaped and molded to my feet for the last three months and been through rain several times before. I should probably go ahead and start my quest for next year’s pair since they’re all on such deep discount right now. What brand makes your favorite sandals? How do they hold up?

  1. I am definitely really hard on my black sandals too. I think it's finally time to replace my favorite black ones. They are so worn out but I didn't have the heart to throw them out. haha!

  2. This summer I didn't really wear my flat black sandals – I was all about the brown, and I wore them hard and I think they will need to be resoled for next summer!
Always a shame when your backlog of outfits runs out. Usually this doesn't happen for me until November, when we change the clocks and it gets dark too early.

  3. Lol. Well I was a terrible blogger and didn't take any besides my capsule outfits these past two weeks when I should've been doing a little more. I hope to get some outfits done today since I have the day off again!
My brown ones pulled double duty until about late May early June when I started just wearing black blue and white.

  4. Plus it's the bottomless "mom" type purse that's perfect for carrying coffee carafes and ninja turtles. It's huge. If you can find one as close as they possibly were to the price at Target (which was $55) I say get one. I've been very impressed with the quality for a Target piece.

  5. I generally have 1 pair of sandals that I wear WAY too much during the summer and they don't make it to the next summer too. Mine are generally Target sandals, so I don't feel bad about wearing them to death and throwing them away. Very cute outfit!

  6. What is it with sandals wearing out too quickly?! I feel like my boots last for years and years, but I wear through sandals so quickly, even though I try to take good care of them.

Loving this fun outfit, and I can't tell your sandals had seen better days!

  7. I totally splurged this year and bought a nice pair of Tory Burch sandals and a pair of J. Crew sandals, and I'm praying they last 2 or 3 summers. (We'll see.) I usually head to Target for all my warm weather shoe needs, and I sadly just lost my favorite pair of glitter sandals. They ALMOST made it two summers. Good luck finding another pair of black sandals you love!

  8. I scooped these up for a pretty good deal. I think around $20 with sales and such, so I wasn't too heart broken, but they were so comfortable I really wanted them to last longer.

  9. So true! I've had my favorite pair of boots for 5 years now. They're taking a trip to the shoe repair man to get polished up but that's it. Sandals just get worn so hard for some reason. Thanks Jackie!

  10. Oooooh. I envied your J.Crew sandals. I did get a pair of their espadrilles late season and have been enjoying wearing those. They have a tiny wedge and for some reason that seems to make a difference with wear and how long they last. Target for two summers is quite the feat!
